The Iroquois Valley Harmonizers is a 501(c)(3) organization as a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Chapter is also a non-profit corporation registered in Indiana. All proceeds from performances and the Annual Show are used to meet Chapter expenses. The Chorus also donates money to worthy charities, and regularly support the two charitable organizations discussed below. We also donate funds to other charitable causes, as determined by the Chapter Board of Directors. The Harmony Foundtion is the charitable arm of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The mission of the Foundation is to preserve our music legacy through support of vocal music education in our schools and communities. In 2008, over $450,000 was given though the Foundation to projects that include elementary music programs, youth workshops, contest for high school students, assisting college students in becoming music educators, and so on. The Harmonizers,in addition to donating money to the Foundation, also fund several scholarships for high school students to attend the Harmony Explosion Camp in Indiana. The Harmonizers also support Heartspring. On their 40-acre campus in Wichita, Kansas, Heartspring helps young children (ages birth to 21) who have communications disorders and multiple disabilities to lead more independent lives by improving communications skills, daily living skills, and behavior. Heartspring has served more than 60,000 children and young adults. One of the young people who has benefitted from the therapy and love at Heartspring is Ricky Mangas, the son of our Chorus Director. Heartspring relies upon donations and federal funding to offer reduced costs and financial assistance to their children and families. See the 'Links' page on this web site to access the web sites of these organizations.
